A visit to great VIJAYANAGARA EMPIRE

First of all I would like to thank all our team mates who came to trip & made our visit memorable, showing flexibility in changing the trip plans.

Our journey started on 15/10/2010 Friday night from Jalahalli cross (Bangalore) in KSRTC rajahamsa bus @ 23:30.

We booked 6 tickets early but because of some work only 4 could go…

Myself, Sandeep, varun & Raghavendra.

We reached hospet @ 7:45 on 16/10/10 as road condition was not good. We reached pre booked lodge Pai Residency which hardly 3 min walk from bus stop.

Waited for some time to vacate the clean the lodge. After got fleshed up in lodge <>

At 10:45 we caught bus to Hampi which is 14 km away

& costs 13rs each..

As We reached Hampi around 11:30 , all guides, auto drivers came & suggested to take their help as its around 23 km to be travelled to cover all the places.

All of us new to the place didn’t take risk of taking their help initially.

Soon after we visited Kadlek alu ganesh temple & took few snaps over there.

Kadle Kalu ganesha

Den went to famous Virupaksha temple which is nearby. As per rule should pay some amount to cameraa inside ,but security wasn’t that strict v took ours. We saw many paintings even @ the roof of the temple.. It is built very beautifully..As Hampi was capital of Vijayanagara Empire & virupaksha temple main temple.

VIRUPAKSHA TEMPLE- PINTING @ ROOF

Soon after we went to see river which flows beside of the temple, v had tender coconut which costs 10. Cheap compared to b’lore.

RIVER FLOWING NEARBY TEMPLE

After that saw bunch of bicycles & gearless 2 wheelers which can be used for rounds..2 wheeler costs 150rs/day excluding petrol. It was already near to 13:00 v thought its waste of taking & no one was knowing route to go.

So we decided to take help of Auto rickshaw. Initially he bargained 150rs/person…Finally v settled @ 350 rs.

1 st visit in auto is SASIVEKALU GANESHA which is very nearby. But no permission to go nearby of that statue v took only few snaps

SAASIVE KALU GANESHA

Den we visited to Ugra narasimha statue, whose right hand is broken by some old war attack.

Our first entire group photo captured by candian lady who came with her hubby(v guessed).

Next visit nearby Bdavi Linga Temple which is nearby.

UGRA NARASIMHA BADAVI LINGA

Its two stones facing each other .

In between we saw many old kings broken small palaces & Bazaar wr pearl @ many valuable things used to sell in olden days,

After that we took a ticket of rs 10 to visit oth

er places.

Our next visit to a place wr all the old & new statues has been kept for exhibition ,but shouldn’t take snaps.

MUSICAL HALL(RENOVATION STAGE)

Its surrounding is made by many small temples on which we can see hard work of many artists.

Finally it was near to 4:15 we rushed towards bus stop as we had one plan of visiting TB dam.

It took around 20 mins to reach bust sop.

We caught bus & reached to hospet around 17:15

We hired a auto to reach TB dam..it took around 15 mins.

Finally we reached walked towards dam around 17:50

A

THUNGABADRA DAM

Saw very crowd over there .they didn’t allow to walk on dam.

We met sandeeps friend over there & he offered some eatables & ice-cream .

He took a ticket to enter garden & for musical fountain.

Musical fountain started @ 7 & ended around 7:20.

INSIDE OF TB DAM GARDEN

It was not that good compare to KRS but much enf for Hospet ppl..it was dancing well for telugu son gs than kannada songs.

We caught a bus back to hospet which is just rs5 /person.

As we came to know our train for next day ticket still was in RAC, we canceled the ticket & booked in VRL sleeper for rs 360.

Vacated our room & paid rs 700 as lodge charge.

After having dinner we left hospet with lot of sweet memories.

Reached b’lore at 5:30 on 17/10/10.

CONCLUSION:

It’s a really a very nice time we had there even though we were not aware of the place.

Its worth of visiting in one day, but to study watch completely one days is not enough.

Better to take own vehicle or else need to hire from there.
